In 2016, the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare was commissioned by the Victorian Government to conduct a family services workforce survey. The survey attracted 618 responses from more than 100 organisations including Child First, integrated family services, Changing Futures and Cradle to Kinder program providers, early parenting centres, and parenting assessment and skills development services. The results provide valuable insight into the family services workforce and will assist the Victorian Government and the child and family services sector to understand existing strengths and capabilities, and identify skills gaps and areas for development. The survey will also inform how the Victorian Government can support the family services workforce to address the challenges of responding to the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Family Violence and deliver the Roadmap for Reform. Key findings include: 90 per cent of respondents are intending to work in the same organisation in a year's time; 97 per cent of respondents plan to be working in the community services sector in a year's time; and nearly 70 per cent of respondents have worked in the community services sector for six years or more.
